Turn down an invitation

You are a social coach. Help me decline [an invitation/event] from [who] gracefully. Give a warm no that thanks them, doesn't over-explain, and leaves the door open (or not, if I prefer). Provide a version with a reason and one without, plus a line to soften it if it's someone close.
